Buenos Aires, November 28 (NA) -- The official news agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) condemned on Friday the military exercises and arms race of the United States in alliance with the Republic of Korea.
The agency described Washington as "the ringleader that threatens peace and stability and destroys the strategic balance of security", according to a Xinhua report accessed by the Argentine News Agency.
Recently, the United States and the Republic of Korea conducted a naval exercise in the waters near Pyeongtaek, in the northern South Korean province of Gyeonggi, under the pretext of countering a supposed "infiltration", deploying a guided-missile destroyer, anti-submarine helicopters, maritime patrol aircraft, and other naval and air forces, noted the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) in a commentary.
Washington additionally deployed F-16 fighters at the Osan Air Base in Gyeonggi Province to enhance joint operational capability, aimed at deterring the DPRK and countries in the region, the agency added.
The DPRK "will continue to dedicate itself to defending its sovereignty and national interests and to protecting peace and stability in the region by exercising its essential rights, while the United States continues to renew its record of military demonstration of force that threatens the countries of the region," the commentary stated.
